The ever-increasing global population continues to accelerate the exhaustion of our rapidly dwindling water resources. More than one billion people currently suffer from the lack adequate or sufficient drinking water. According to Population Action International, by the year 2025 more than 2.8 billion people in different 48

countries will face water problems ranging from severe water shortage to major life-threatening crises unless dramatic solutions are introduced. Unfortunately, in many places, the future is already here.

Already, nowadays, the sum of people without access to piped fresh water accounts more than 25% of the global population, most of them located in Africa, Asia and South America.

Every 8 seconds a child in the developing countries dies from a disease caused by unsafe drinking water, water pollutants, originated from industries, agriculture and urban activities cause cancer, brain damages and many other severe diseases. One quarter of the world population suffers from the lack of safe drinking water.

The rapid growing urban and rural populations, industry and agriculture forces governments to enlarge the infrastructures in order to provide fresh water, but the existing budgets and efforts are insufficient for water treatment (purification and desalination) and pipes installation, while the one worth nothing without the other.
